On June 15, people in 9 states where the
Recreational Fee Demonstration Program (Fee Demo) is most prevalent held
protests and rallies opposing Fee Demo and supporting proper funding of
public lands recreation through the normal appropriations process.
News coverage was varied for each of the events. Some received no coverage while others received a number of articles in local newspapers and/or TV news stories. Additionally, attendance varied for each event with most having large crowds of between two dozen and one hundred participants.
The organizers of the events considered the day a success due to the coverage the Day of Action generated in the media.
