Mission Statement

The following is our mission statement and goals of our group.

Free Our Forests is an association of volunteers whose mission is to maintain free access to our publicly held lands and stop its commercialization and privatization.

Free Our Forests shall acomplish its mission by:

  1. Lobbying Congress to secure adequate funding for our public lands through the fair allocation of the general tax revenue.

  2. Ending projects of the Recreational Fee Demonstration Program such as the Adventure Pass and Northwest Forest Pass.

  3. Educating the public about programs such as the Recreational Fee Demonstration Program.

  4. Informing the public of the dangers and consequences of commercialization and privatization of their public land by private interest groups.

  5. Gathering community support through a grassroots campaign of establishing local chapters of Free Our Forests.

  6. Networking with groups holding common interests in our forests and public lands such as the Sierra Club, Wild Wilderness, and the National Forest Defense Alliance, and the Keep the Sespe Wild Committee.

  7. Organizing protests, boycotts, letter-writing campaigns and petition drives, targeting individuals and stores selling the Adventure Pass, Northwest Forest Pass, or other fees resulting from the Recreaitonal Fee Demonstration Program, and influencing lawmakers to support free access to our lands.

  8. Monitoring and engaging in court challenges of the Recreational Fee Demonstration Program and its enforcement policies.
